A Modern Take on the Butler’s Pantry

butlers pantry nrh.jpg

Historically, a butler's pantry, or servery, was a room seen in only the grandest of homes. These spaces typically housed serving dishes, linens and cutlery and were used by paid staff to serve formal dinners.  Although most homeowner's do not employ a butler inside their home today, many are requesting a butler's pantry inside their new home..

Butler's pantries are most often located between the kitchen and dining room, with access provided to each of these rooms.  The galley style is very popular, as it provides ample cabinetry space for storage and ample counter space for preparation.

When designing the layout of your butler's pantry, consider the function it will serve in your home.  Will it be used primarily for preparing drinks, like coffee and wine?  Will it be used as a space to prepare plates of food and store dirty dishes after a course of a meal?  Upper cabinetry with glass doors are a nice choice for storing wine glasses. Open shelves may be desired to display liquor bottles. A wine fridge and a dishwasher may be included as well.

We will work with you to ensure that this special part of your home is both beautiful in style and functional in its daily use.
